I spend time thinking about and writing about how whiteness operates at the intuitive level, and how the social and the structural and the personal are always creating each other. In particular, I look at how white embodied experiences of power and comfort generate intuitions, narratives, and interpretations of the world which constrict political possibilities, and how attention to that embodiment might help generate creative interventions. Practically, this means reading a lot of mainstream political discourse on race, immigration, and identity; studying critical race theory and psychoanalytic theories of racism; and watching a lot of movies and reading a lot of comics.
