This year has been big.  In March we gathered in Cincinnati for the 2nd Annual Theopoetics Conference. In June we began the process of re-forming ARC as a result of the merger of (1) The Association for Theopoetics Research and Exploration with (2) The Society for Arts, Religion, and Contemporary Culture. In October our new website went live, we announced the launch of a new podcast, and invited people to join us in Boston for the 3rd Theopoetics Conference in the spring of 2018. Two weeks ago we co-sponsored three separate events at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Religion, supporting the work of poets, composers, activists, theologians, and filmmakers.

And today, ARC joins with #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on November 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) to kick off the winter giving season and inspire people to collaborate and to give back to the charities and causes they support.

We’re turning to you to ask that you support the Young Adult Scholarship Fund that ARC has put in place to cover the registration costs of folks interested in exploring the connections between engaged faith, imagination, and the arts. ARC is committed to making space for young adults and we hope you’ll partner with us to host those that want to be part of the conference community this coming March. Your gift will support emerging artists, activists, and scholars committed to finding ways to braid together artistic and spiritual practices in service to social justice and flourishing communities. Your contribution enters you into membership in The Association for Theopoetics and it means we’ll be able to waive the costs of registration to young adults looking for connection and colleagues in their work.

We are in times that call for new voices and new methods of resistance and bridge-building. During these days, your assistance is a vital part of our work to encourage and equip those who are ready for this task.

With gratitude for your support,

Callid Keefe-Perry and the Board of ARC
